
As part of its widely known altruistic initiatives, NP (SL) Limited has officially handed over the newly constructed solar-powered borehole and other rehabilitated facilities to the Government Independence Memorial Secondary School Kissy.
This bold, generous act by the Company is among the many forms of support NP-SL has provided to schools and communities.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NP (SL) Limited, Dr Mohamed S. Kanu, the Principal of G.I.M.S.S, Mrs. Janette Fatoma, representative of the Board of Directors of the school, Mr. Philip Johnson, representative from Ministry of Basic Secondary and Senior Education and key community stakeholders witnessed the handing over ceremony held at the school’s premises, Kissy Dockyard community.
The CEO emphasised the essence of education, stating that education is not a luxury, but rather a necessity for national development. He noted that Government Independence Memorial Secondary School is crucial in shaping the future of the pupils, and that the Company believes in supporting initiatives that foster development in the education sector.
Dr Mohamed S. Kanu added that NP-SL deems giving back to communities and schools not just a responsibility, but also a privilege. “Over the years, we have supported schools and communities across the country. Kingtom Police Primary School and now Independence School stand as a clear example of this commitment.”

NP (SL) Limited constructed a solar-powered borehole and two water towers to ensure reliable access to clean water. The Company also refurbished the school’s administrative building, staff facilities, and toilet facilities for both boys and girls. Coupled with these, the Company provided 200 chairs and desks to the school. “These interventions are designed not only to enhance learning conditions, but also to ensure the dignity, safety, and comfort of everyone within the school community. We are not only a market leader, we are doing a lot in supporting communities,” Dr Mohamed S. Kanu affirmed.

With avid interest, the Principal of Government Independence Memorial Secondary School, Mrs. Janet Fatoma, expressed her appreciation to NP-SL for the Company’s kind gesture in supporting her school. “For years, we have grappled with challenges. They were not just challenges; they were barriers to learning. Thanks to NP (SL) Limited. Those barriers are now broken with the support of NP (SL) Limited,” Mrs. Janette Fatoma stated. She added that the school now has no excuse to pursue learning with excellence.
Pupils of the school expressed gratitude to the Company for its benevolent act in supporting their school. “Your support is not just commendable, but also life-saving. Your name will forever be etched in the history of our school,” a pupil of the school noted while giving vote of thanks.
