In commemoration of World day for Safety and Health at work, NP held a march procession and sensitization exercise from Shell Passionage Street to its Kissy Terminal facility.
The event was attended by Bulk Road Vehicle (BRV) or Tanker drivers, Safety officers, media and management and staff of NP (SL) Limited.
General Manager, Saidu Mansaray spoke on the importance of celebrating the day to create awareness about observing safety in the world in limiting the cause of accidents by avoiding dangerous practises in the work place. Mr. Mansaray admonished everyone present to imbibe the habits of safe practises both in the office and at home. He maintained that by practising safe habits, NP workers will help reduce injury and prevent accidents especially fire outbreaks.
Emphasizing the need for the celebration of a day like World day for Safety and Health at work, Safety Officer, Steven Koroma said that safety should not just be observed on a day like this, rather, it should be observed daily. He stressed that BRV drivers should maintain responsible driving and respect road signs. Mr. Koroma added that everyone should normalize the saying; \”your safety is my safety\”
The event was climaxed with the demonstration of the use of fire extinguisher by a representative of the BRV drivers to show everyone that fire extinguishers are not difficult to use.
